
Mobilising - Assistance with Standing
Share this article:
- Stand to side of person you are assisting to stand
- Carer asks the person to slide forward
- Carer‘s back leg anchored, front foot facing forward, knees bent
- Place arm behind persons hip
- Place other hand flat on shoulder
- The persons feet should be firmly on the ground and as close to chair as possible
- The persons hands on the arms of chair
- The person who is going to stand should then lean forward so the nose is over toes and look ahead
- Count one, two, three using a rocking motion to get momentum
- Gently push client from hip and steady from front of shoulder
- Push forward – weight through hips and knees
- Guide the client to stand
