Assisting with Hair and Shaving

Assisting Styling hair

• Choose an easy-care style.
• Respect how the person you are assisting wants their hair styled
• Wash hair in the kitchen sink if the tub or shower is too difficult
• Consider using one of the dry shampoo products if hair washing is impossible

Assisting Shaving

• Use electric shaver if possible
• Put dentures in the person’s mouth before shaving him
• Apply a warm face cloth to soften the skin
• Use one hand to pull the skin tight and smooth
• Use the shaver against the grain of the hair growth
• Apply aftershave or face lotion
• Remove cap of electric shaver and empty
